Crochet Bunny Hat Pattern

I found the blog Repeat Crafter Me that I think is just adorable.  Sarah generously shares the most creative items.  Currently I am obsessed with this bunny hat and pattern.  Below is RCM’s original blog posting.

Please let me know if you try it and show us how it turns out and check out Sarah’s blog for more. I will post my efforts when I finish it.

Crochet Bunny Hat Pattern

Get ready for Easter with this cute bunny hat and matching diaper cover! Although this hat would be cute on all ages, anytime of the year. Feel free to use your own color combinations as well! I think grey/pink would be cute or how about a light brown/blue combo for a boy?! I can’t wait to see what you come up with. Be sure to post your finished hats on my Repeat Crafter Me Facebook wall!

Before we begin let me remind you of some basic directions you should follow while crocheting my hats:
– Always start your rounds in the same stitch as your chain.
– Always join your rounds to the first DC, NOT the chain.
– Your last stitch should be in the stitch before your chain.
– Do NOT count the chain 2 as a stitch.

(You can find pictures of how to start and join your rounds HERE)

Materials:

– White worsted weight yarn (I used Vanna’s Choice Lion Brand)
– Pink worsted weight yarn (I used Vanna’s Choice Lion Brand in pink). Feel free to use your own accent color!
– Two small black buttons for eyes
– Crochet hook size H-8 (5.0 mm)
– Tapestry needle

Abbreviations:
ch – chain

Bunny Ears (Outside Ear): Make two
Chain 5, SC in 2nd chain from hook and in each across, ch 1, turn (4 SC)
Row 2: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 2 stitches, 2 SC in last stitch, ch 1, turn (6 SC)
Row 3: SC in each stitch across, ch 1, turn (6 SC)
Row 4: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 4 stitches, 2 SC in last stitch, ch 1, turn (8 SC)
Row 5-10: SC in each stitch across, ch 1, turn (8 SC)
This is where you can keep making rows of SC to make the ears longer. Keep in mind, the longer the ear, the floppier it will become (which would be cute too!)
Row 11: SC decrease, SC in next 4 stitches, SC decrease in last stitch, ch 1, turn
Row 12: SC in each stitch across, ch 1, turn (6 SC)
Row 13: SC decrease, SC in next 2 stitches, SC decrease in last stitch, ch 1 turn
Row 14: SC in each stitch across, ch 1, turn (4 SC)
Row 15: Make 2 SC decreases, ch 1, turn
Row 16: SC decrease, ch 1, and continue to sc around the edge of the entire ear. Slip stitch to first SC to join. Leave long tail to sew ears together.

These ears are very versatile. I think they would make great cat ears or pig ears. I am sure you can come up with other uses for them as well!

Bunny Ears (Inside Ear): Make two
Follow the pattern above but with your accent color (such as pink as pictured). When you get to row 16, make your SC decrease and then switch color to white and continue to SC around the entire ear.

Sew ears together by taking your tapestry needle and the long tail and weave needle in and out just under the single crocheted edges. Consider using a pipe cleaner inside the ears to help them stand up. Otherwise they may flop over (which would be cut too!).

Sew ears onto hat between the 2nd and fourth round, along the crease of the hat that appears when you flatten it.

Bunny Nose and Mouth: The nose is stitched on with my yarn and tapestry needle. I just kept weaving the yarn into an upside down triangle shape. Don’t over-think this. You can do it! Then you are going to want to stitch on the mouth using the same method as my puppy dog mouth. Here is the how-to video:

Diaper Cover:
I followed a Free Diaper Cover Pattern from Crochet A Flowers. I followed the directions exactly, using white yarn for the entire diaper cover and edges. I suggested also using a white button to fasten it in the front.

Add a large yarn pom pom for the tail. You can do this by using the cardboard method which I show in my Thing 1 and Thing 2 Hats tutorial, or you can wrap the yarn around your hand as seen HERE.

Coach Gillie Sandal Coup

Today was an amazing and unexpected shopping day!!

I had no intention on getting yet ANOTHER pair of black shoes when I woke up today but the shopping Gods hadimage another plan.  These high heel Coach Gillie sandals could not be left behind!

Originally listed Coach $198.00/ Loehmann’s $139.99, it was marked down to $104.98.  That price was already an excellent one to pay.  Add to that the killer current clearance sale of 60% off purple clearance (-$23.75)  AND my Gold Member discount (-$10.50) AND a 20% off $50 purchase coupon (-$13.64) and I walked out the door for $24.15 +tx.

It pays to be a Loehmann’s Gold Member!   Enrollment was only $25/year and the savings just keep adding up. I also love the new website (www.Loehmanns.com) but trying is buying!  If you can get to one of the locations in person, RUN.

Romantic Candlelight Innovation

It is said that a woman looks best by candlelight and/or moonlight.  Since I can not control the phases of the moon, I lean on my love candlelight.  I used to burn them all the time when I was single.  My roommate and I had the atmosphere down to a science when we had “company” over.  Now that I am married, and have a curious baby boy in the house, I am very hesitant to burn as many as I used to. I would like to think that I have graduated to quality over quantity.  Long gone are my days of a cheap bag of thin tin tealights and metal filled wicks.  Enter PartyLite…

PartyLite smells amazing and look all grown up.  The designers in their office seems to always be thinking and my preview of the New Fall/Holiday line is the evidence.  I found these Light Illusions™ LED Pillar candles by PartyLite! Not only do they come in Ivory and Red but some are remote control ready and run off of AA batteries!!  My fave is a set that has  three pillars & the remote control together.  One of each size: 3″x5″, 3″x6″  and 3″x7″.  Check out WWW.PartyLite.Biz/GoldenLites to see more.
